What should I do if Sophie starts flashing and switches herself off?

Unplug Sophie
Empty Sophie's water tank and rinse it out with warm water
Plug Sophie in again
Press and hold the LED button first, then also press the ON/OFF button
Hold both buttons for approximately 2–3 seconds
After that, the LED should flash 4×
Refill Sophie with water and switch her on again

We do not recommend using Sophie with distilled water – it can lead to malfunctions.

I want to place my Sophie/Sophie little outdoors. Where can I find the USB-C cover?

You can find the USB-C cover on the insert accompanying the user manual. If you intend to use your Sophie or Sophie little in an outdoor setting, make sure to place it only in a sheltered location where direct rain or snow cannot reach the device.

Will Sophie switch off automatically when the water container is empty?

The device will switch off automatically when there is no water left in the water container. Sophie will not be damaged if she runs out of water.

Can I use my aroma diffuser with distilled water?

No, we advise against using our aroma diffusers with distilled water, as it may interfere with the water level sensor. This can cause the diffuser to shut off incorrectly because it cannot accurately detect the water level.

We do not recommend using Nora with distilled water – it can lead to malfunctions.

What should I do if Sophie's flame becomes difficult to see?

Make sure that the LED dimmer is deactivated (press the right-hand button on the front several times: normal – dimmed – switched off). If there are limescale deposits on the membrane, Sophie's mist may be less distinct or less powerful.

If that is the case, you can clean and descale your Sophie thoroughly, paying particular attention to the membrane. We recommend wiping the membrane carefully with a cotton bud soaked in descaler until all the limescale has gone. Under no circumstances should you attempt to chip limescale deposits off the membrane using a hard or pointed object!

After cleaning, rinse thoroughly with clean water. Make sure that no water gets into the air outlet opening (9) during cleaning or rinsing.

Aroma diffuser and essential oil

We recommend the use of pure natural essential oils for the operation of your aroma diffuser.

To begin with, you can add 2–3 drops of the scented oil to the water. Depending on the desired intensity of the fragrance, you can increase or decrease the number of drops.

If you barely smell the scent, please look at the list with recommendations:

Increase the amount of oil/fragrance drops in the diffuser.
Try different kind of fragrances/essential oils.
How much the scent is noticeable depends mostly on the quality of the fragrance itself (synthetic, natural, ingredients, etc.). It is comparable with wine; quality is everything plus the scent also changes over time. Our experience is that the best results are achieved with 100 % pure essential oils of a high quality and concentration.
The room temperature and relative air humidity influence how noticeable the scent is. The drier the environment, the less noticeable is the scent.
A high rate of air ventilation (opening windows and/or heating/air conditioning) has a direct influence on the scent because it makes it disappear faster. Reducing the air ventilation and not putting the aroma diffuser next to an air vent helps to increase the time the scent remains in the air and thus the noticeability. This also means no tilted windows.
Make sure the aroma diffuser is positioned where you like the scent to be most noticeable, best at least 70 cm above the floor.
Clean the inside of the aroma diffuser at least once a week and make sure to thoroughly clean the transducer from any oil/scent residues. The transducer can be clogged which results in a lower output and less noticeability of the scent.

Can I operate Sophie without a cable?

Yes, Sophie has a battery with a running time of up to 11 hours. The battery must be fully charged for at least 12 hours before using it for the first time.

As soon as the LED on the back starts flashing, Sophie must be recharged. We recommend that you don’t use the aroma diffuser while it is charging so that the battery can be fully charged as quickly as possible.

Can I leave my Sophie outside?

Sophie is IP44 certified and therefore splash-proof. You can leave your Sophie outside in a sheltered spot without any worries - however she should not be directly exposed to rain. It is important to use the cover for the USB-C cable socket during outdoor use, i.e. to cover the socket with it.

How should I clean Sophie?

You can clean the water container using a common household descaler. Mix the descaler with water according to the instructions on the packaging. Please do not attempt to chip limescale deposits off the membrane using a hard object. In the case of stubborn limescale deposits, we recommend repeating the descaling process several times in a row. Make sure that no water gets into the air outlet opening. After descaling, carefully rinse out the base and dry it thoroughly. The upper part made of polycarbonate can be cleaned in the dish washer.

Please read through the operating instructions carefully before you use the appliance for the first time and keep them safely for later reference; if necessary pass them on to the next owner.

This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, or its service agent, or a qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.

The appliance is only to be used in the home for the purposes described in these instructions. Unauthorised use and technical modifications to the appliance can lead to danger to life and health.
Prior to any maintenance, cleaning and after each use, switch off the appliance and unplug the mains cable from the socket.

Do not store the appliance outdoors.
Always transport the dehumidifier in an upright position. Before using the dehumidifier for the first time, leave it standing in an upright position for 24 hours. Always stand the dehumidifier in an upright position immediately after transporting the appliance and wait for at least 60minutes before switching it back on. The water tank must be emptied every time before transport.
Place the dehumidifier on a firm, even, waterproof surface. Make sure it is standing securely so that the dehumidifier cannot tip over or fall down. If it tipped over, please pull out the plug at once. Water can damage furniture and floor coverings.
Unwind the cord completely. An incompletely unwound cord can lead to overheating and cause a fire.
Do not immerse the dehumidifier into water or any other liquids and do not pour water or any other liquids onto the appliance or into the air intake and air outflow vents.
Do not use the appliance in immediate vicinity of a bath tub, a shower or a swimming pool (observe a minimum distance of 3m). Place the appliance such that a person in the bath tub cannot touch the appliance.
Do not place the appliance near a heat source. Do not subject the power cord to direct heat (such as a heated hotplate, open flames, hot iron sole plates or heaters for example). Protect power cords from oil.
Do not use the dehumidifier if it is faulty or could show signs of damage, or if it is not functioning correctly. Disconnect the plug from the power socket.
Never insert your fingers or any other objects into the air inlet or outlet. Do not cover the appliance during operation.
Do not sit or stand on the appliance.
Discard of the water in the water tank when the tank is full.
Do not operate the appliance in a closed area such as inside a closet, as it may cause a fire.
Warning: the appliance shall be installed, operated and stored in a room with a floor area not less than the minimum room area (7.2m2 ).
When operating to dry clothes keep the clothing at least 50 cm away from the unit and do not allow water to drip onto the unit.
If using the appliance with the drainage hose, make sure the end of the hose is lower than the spout, otherwise the water will not drain and flooding may occur.
If any parts of the appliance are damaged, please contact the retailer or a designated repair shop.

The dehumidifier functions optimally at a room temperature of between 13 °C and 35 °C. The specified dehumidifying performance is only achievable in the higher temperature range (from 22 °C) and with higher room humidity (from 70%). The lowest recommended operating temperature is 5 °C. In case of lower temperatures, the DEFROST mode is activated too frequently. The highest operating temperature is 35 °C and the relative humidity is 80%.
